"It's about storytelling. It's about understanding. It's about technical ability. It's like putting together a huge multi-dimensional jigsaw. That's why I love it."
To me it's about storytelling. It’s about understanding. It’s about technical ability. Editing is like putting together a giant multi-dimensional jigsaw. Being able to pull together storylines, images and sound and really get to grips with the story that needs telling, or the message that needs communicating are the keys to a good end result.
I've been editing since the late eighties, and have edited for projects across a broad range of industry sectors and services as well as TV documentaries and series.
The old adage "A picture paints a thousand words" is more true today than ever, and so graphics have become a significant part of my job as a video-maker.
An early grounding in graphic design taught me to communicate stories and messages clearly, helping the audience to understand exactly what they need to understand. From animated scenes to info-graphics full of facts and figures, graphics can bring a story or a message to life in a way that words are simply unable to do on their own.
Now, more than ever, visual communications, and particularly video, are a vital part of the marketing and communications mix. So whether it's a promotional film, a striking presentation opener, a series of conference or training videos or a documentary, I will always bring to the job my knowledge and depth of experience, a dedication to my craft and a desire to produce a finished result that will answer the brief - on time and within budget.
My mission is to deliver the client's vision, in a striking and memorable way.
