ODVA - Promotional & Exhibition Video ODVA is an organisation that supports users of industrial network technologies built on the Common Industrial Protocal (CIP). The video was produced to promote the network protocol EhterNet/IP and was to be shown at trade exhibitions and conferences. The challenge was to explain the benefits of migrating to the protocol, showing it in use in various industry applications, while at the same time showing a development timeline and listing all its numerous users and supporters. The voiceover tells a complex story which is illustrated through the use of relevant footage and graphics. Much of the footage came from ODVA partners, though some “packshots” were originated for the programme. The relatively complex and technical script was developed from protocol spec-sheets and marketing copy, and underwent several drafts before the client was comfortable that I had achieved the right balance between technical ‘jargon’ and a clear narrative. The video was very successful, and has since been translated into six foreign language versions. Design, motion graphics, editing and script by Nick Horrox Produced by Mark Bloomfield
