I've been editing since about 1989 and working with non-linear systems since the mid-Nineties. I have been using FCP since version 1 appeared in 1999, and I was told at the time that I was one of the first users in the UK! Prior to this my experience of editing was as a Producer and Director working in the corporate communications and conference industry.
In the early Nineties I was a Director and Producer, and like every other Director or Producer I would turn up at a cold, dark edit facility with two or three bags of tapes, all set for hours (or days) of long, hard sitting-on-a-comfy-sofa watching, without being able to do.
So when desk-top non-linear editing hit the scene, I was one of the first to, quite literally, get off my bottom and jump right on in there.
That was fifteen years ago and I haven't looked back. I have edited promos, documentaries, TV series and corporates - and I often write, direct and edit the programmes I work on.
Go on, I like a challenge.
